Luke James has joined the cast of the new musical Wanted on Broadway, which begins performances October 15 ahead of a November 8 opening at the James Earl Jones Theatre.
James is known for starring as Victor "Trig" Taylor on The Chi and for his three-time Grammy-nominated music career, during which he has released three studio albums and penned songs for artists like Britney Spears and Justin Bieber. He made his Broadway debut in Thoughts of a Colored Man in 2021.
In Wanted, James plays Elijah, joining previously announced stars Liisi LaFontaine as Mary Clarke, Solea Pfeiffer as Martha Clarke, and Ledisi as Tallulah Clarke.
Wanted is inspired by the true story of two Black sisters who, passing as white, become outlaws in a desperate quest for their family's survival. The musical features a book and lyrics by Angelica Chéri, a descendant of the Clarkes; music by Ross Baum; direction by Stevie Walker-Webb, and choreography by Chelsey Arce.
