Maybe Happy Ending has plenty of battery life. On July 7, when the musical plays its 688th Broadway performance, it will become the longest-running show in the history of the Belasco Theatre. The show Dead End, which ran from 1935-37, previously held the record with 687 performances.
The performance on that date will feature a Party Like It’s 2064 Fan Event: This Is Where You Belong. There will be a costume contest (the first 20 people dressed up will receive signed Playbills), custom merchandise, photo ops, and Q&A and sing-along after curtain call.
Maybe Happy Ending follows two obsolete robots who end up on a road trip, developing an unlikely friendship that turns into an even unlikelier romance. Will Aronson and Hue Park's musical debuted to acclaim in 2024 and won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, the following year.
The cast includes Zachary Noah Piser as Oliver, Hannah Kevitt as Claire, Dez Duron as Gil Brentley, and Marcus Choi as James and others. Tony Award winner Michael Arden (The Lost Boys, Parade) directs.
