Full cast announced joining Jennifer Nettles in 'Giulia: The Poison Queen of Palermo'

Nettles also wrote the new Off-Broadway musical inspired by true events, which premieres at the Perelman Performing Arts Center in June for a limited run.

The Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC) has named the complete cast for its world-premiere production of Giulia: The Poison Queen of Palermo this summer, a new musical written by and starring Grammy Award winner Jennifer Nettles. Performances are set to run from June 28 to July 26, with opening night on July 10.

Joining Nettles in the title role of Giulia are Matthew Amira as Carlo, Quentin Earl Darrington as Cardinale, Emily Fink as Maria, Bre Jackson as La Capitana, Andrew Kober as Pietro, Aubrey Matalon as Renata, Christopher M. Ramirez as Governatore, Didi Romero as Duchessa, Naomi Serrano as Vitoria, Sam Simahk as Father Paolo, and Jessica Rush as the standby for Giulia and Duchessa. Jamila Sabares-Klemm and Maya Sistruck are ensemble members, and Kim Onah and Kaleb Wells are understudies.

Giulia also has direction by Tony winner Mary Zimmerman, choregraphy by Austin McCormick, set design by Daniel Ostling, costume design by Ana Kuzmanić, lighting design by T.J. Gerckens, sound design by Palmer Hefferan, hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe, music direction and arrangements by Adam Rothenberg, and orchestrations by Cian McCarthy.

Inspired by true events, Giulia: The Poison Queen of Palermo follows a woman who commits one act of self-defense that snowballs into a string of casualties, which rock a Sicilian town while also inspiring a secret sisterhood.
