'Orlando' sets Off-Broadway cast joining Taylor Mac

Mac will play the title character, who traverses time and gender in Sarah Ruhl's acclaimed stage adaptation of the classic 1928 novel by Virginia Woolf.

Signature Theatre has set the complete cast for Orlando, the next new production in the company's Off-Broadway season. Performances run from April 2 to May 12 at the Pershing Square Signature Center, and opening night is April 21.

As previously announced, Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-nominated writer and performer Taylor Mac will play Orlando's title role. The cast also includes Janice Amaya, Nathan Lee Graham, Lisa Kron, Jo Lampert, and TL Thompson.

Alongside previously announced director/choreographer Will Davis, the creative team includes set designer Arnulfo Maldonado, costume designer Oana Botez, lighting designer Barbara Samuels, sound designer and composer Brendan Aanes, intimacy coordinator Ann C. James, and props supervisor Matt Carlin.

Two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Sarah Ruhl adapted her Orlando play from Virginia Woolf's classic 1928 novel. The title character begins his life as a man in Elizabethan England. As centuries pass, Orlando eventually becomes a 20th-century woman, rediscovering their identity and place in the world over and over again along the way.
