She's livin' it up on top! Lana Gordon will return to star as Persephone in Hadestown beginning June 3.

Gordon will replace current cast member Merle Dandridge, who plays her final performance June 1. Previously, Gordon served as the Persephone alternate for Tony Award-nominated original cast member Amber Gray, whom Gordon replaced full-time in 2022.

Gordon later played a return engagement as Persephone in 2024 and has also appeared on Broadway as Velma Kelly in Chicago and in the original cast of The Lion King.

Hadestown opened at the Walter Kerr Theatre in 2019 and received eight Tony Awards that year, including Best Musical. The show, created by Anaïs Mitchell and directed by Rachel Chavkin, is a retelling of the Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone. When Eurydice is trapped in the "underworld" of Hadestown, here reimagined as an industrial factory, her lover, Orpheus, takes a dangerous journey to rescue her.
