Meet your new god of the underworld: Ben Davis will join the cast of Hadestown on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre starting September 1 alongside four previously announced new stars.

Davis (Ragtime, Dear Evan Hansen, Les Misérables), a Tony Honoree for Excellence in Theatre, will play Hades opposite Kayko as Orpheus, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Eurydice, Norbert Leo Butz as Hermes, and Amber Iman as Persephone. Geno Segers, who was initially cast as Hades alongside them, withdrew from the production on August 2.

Hadestown is a sung-through, folk-and-jazz retelling of Greek mythology, centered on the tragic young lovers Orpheus and Eurydice. Created by Anaïs Mitchell and directed by Rachel Chavkin, the eight-time Tony-winning musical has run on Broadway since 2019.
