Kelli O'Hara and more join Tom Hanks in 'This World of Tomorrow' cast
The Off-Broadway play adapted from Hanks's short stories will make its world premiere at The Shed in October, and complete casting has been announced.
The Shed has set the full cast for its fall production of This World of Tomorrow off Broadway, co-written by and starring Tom Hanks as previously announced. Performances run from October 30 to December 21, with opening night on November 18.
Alongside Hanks in the lead role of Bert Allenberry, the cast of This World of Tomorrow includes Tony Award winners Kelli O’Hara and Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Tony nominee Michelle Wilson, Drama Desk Award winner Jay O. Sanders, Kerry Bishé, Kayli Carter, Paul Murphy, Jamie Ann Romero, Lee Aaron Rosen, and Donald Webber Jr.
Adapted from short stories by Hanks, This World of Tomorrow follows time-traveling scientist Bert Allenberry, who arrives from the future to a particular day at the 1939 World’s Fair in Queens, repeating it over and over in search of true love.
Hanks and James Glossman co-wrote the play, which is directed by Tony Award winner Kenny Leon. The creative team also features scenic and projection design by Derek McLane, costume design by Dede Ayite, lighting design by Adam Honoré, sound design and original music by Justin Ellington, and associate direction and dramaturgy by Todd Kreidler.
