Jimbo to join 'Drag: The Musical' Off-Broadway cast

The RuPaul's Drag Race winner will replace original cast member Alaska Thunderfuck, who also co-created the musical and will depart the show in January.

Jimbo will join the Drag: The Musical cast, beginning performances in the Off-Broadway musical at New World Stages on January 13.

Jimbo, known for his drag persona Jimbo the Drag Clown, won season 8 of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars after appearing on Canada’s Drag Race and RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. The World. He has since become a globally renowned drag queen, embarking on tours in the U.S., the U.K., South America, Europe, and Australia.

He will replace current cast member Alaska Thunderfuck in the lead role of Kitty Galloway. Thunderfuck plays her final performance on January 12.

Continuing Drag: The Musical cast members include Nick Adams as Alexis Gillmore, Eddie Korbich as Drunk Jerry, J. Elaine Marcos as Gloria Schmidt/Rita Laritz/Liberty Van Der Snatch, Jan Sport as Savannah St. James, Jujubee as The Tigress, Lagoona Bloo as Tuna Turner, Liisi LaFontaine as Dixie Coxworth, Luxx Noir London as Popcorn, Nick Laughlin as Puss Puss DuBois, with Remi Tuckman and Yair Keydar alternating in the role of ten-year-old Brendan Hutchinson.

Additionally, as previously announced, current cast member Joey McIntyre will play Tom Hutchinson through December 9, with Adam Pascal taking over on December 11.

Created by Thunderfuck, Tomas Costanza, and Ashley Gordon, Drag: The Musical follows two feuding drag queens who open rival nightclubs across the street. Their fight gets even fiercer when both clubs end up on the brink of closure and they must work to save them.

"Drag: The Musical has everything that a musical could want: big numbers, big wigs, loveable characters, and a lot of heart," New York Theatre Guide's review reads.
