Full cast set for John Leguizamo's 'The Other Americans' off Broadway
The Emmy Award nominee wrote and stars in this play about a Latin American family in 1990s Queens, and much of the cast from the D.C. world premiere returns.
The Public Theater has named complete casting for its fall production of The Other Americans, written by and starring Emmy Award winner John Leguizamo. Off-Broadway performances run from September 11 to October 12, with opening night on September 25.
Alongside Leguizamo as Nelson Castro, the Other Americans cast includes Rosa Evangelina Arredondo as Norma, Sarah Nina Hayon as Veronica, Rebecca Jimenez as Toni, Trey Santiago-Hudson as Nick, Bradley James Tejeda as Eddie, and Luna Lauren Velez as Patti. Jaime José Hernández, Kimberli Flores, and Juan Francisco Villa are understudies.
All but Hernández and Flores reprise their roles from the 2024 world premiere of The Other Americans at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C.
The Other Americans follows Colombian American laundromat owner Nelson trying to keep his family and business afloat in 1990s Queens — which proves to be a challenge as the business flounders and his son returns home from a mental wellness institution following a traumatic incident, unraveling Nelson's world and forcing him into murky waters to save all he holds dear.
Ruben Santiago-Hudson directs. The show also features scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costume design by Kara Harmon, lighting design by Jen Schriever, sound design by Justin Ellington, hair and wig design by Anika Seitu, prop management by Natalie Carney, fight direction by Thomas Schall, choreography by Lorna Ventura, and dramaturgy by Jack Phillips Moore.
