Claybourne Elder to join cast of 'Little Shop of Horrors'

Elder, who stars in HBO’s The Gilded Age, joins Tony Award winner Nikki M. James as Audrey and Jordan Fisher as Seymour.

Grammy and Drama Desk nominee Claybourne Elder will join the company of Little Shop of Horrors at the Westside Theatre. He begins performances as Dr. Orin Scrivello D.D.S. on May 26.

Elder, who stars in HBO’s The Gilded Age, joins Tony Award winner Nikki M. James (Suffs, The Book of Mormon) as Audrey and Jordan Fisher (Moulin Rouge, Hadestown, “To All The Boys”) as Seymour. Tony Award nominee Andy Karl (Moulin Rouge, Groundhog Day) will play his final performance as Dr. Orin Scrivello DDS on May 24.

Continuing in the cast are Reg Rogers as Mushnik, Christian McQueen as The Voice of Audrey II, Christine Wanda as Ronnette, Savannah Lee Birdsong as Crystal, and Morgan Ashley Bryant as Chiffon, with Teddy Yudain, Weston Chandler Long, Mecca Hicks, Jeff Sears, Aveena Sawyer, Christopher Swan, Alloria Frayser, Chani Maisonet, Johnny Newcomb, Jon Hoche, Jonothon Lyons, and Noel MacNeal.

Little Shop of Horrors features a book and lyrics by Grammy and Academy Award winner Howard Ashman (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast), and music by Tony and Academy Award winner Alan Menken (Aladdin, Newsies). Tony Award winner Michael Mayer (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Spring Awakening) directs.

The classic horror comedy musical follows a shy, down-on-his-luck flower shop worker named Seymour who makes a deal with a bloodthirsty plant for fame, fortune, and love.
