Shaina Taub returns to star as Emma Goldman in Ragtime on Broadway at the Vivian Beaumont Theater on March 31, 2026.
Taub is a performer and musical theatre writer. She is known for her frequent work with The Public Theater, including monthly concerts at its cabaret venue, Joe's Pub, and adapting two Shakespeare plays into musicals for its Public Works and Shakespeare in the Park programs: Twelfth Night and As You Like It. She performed in the Public's productions of these shows as well.
Taub solely wrote the book, music, and lyrics for the musical Suffs, which she premiered at the Public in 2022. She also starred in that production as Alice Paul, and when the show transferred to the Music Box Theatre, she became the second woman in history to be the sole creator and star of a Broadway show, following Micki Grant with Don’t Bother Me, I Can’t Cope in 1972.
