The Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Sanaz Toossi is running at the Todd Haimes Theatre with the complete company from its 2022 Off-Broadway world premiere.

Winner of the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, English is set in an Iranian classroom where four adult students, along with their teacher, are preparing to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language. Both dramatic and comedic, the show explores the opportunities and challenges learning English presents for each person.

English is written by Sanaz Toossi and directed by Knud Adams. Atlantic Theater Company and Roundabout Theatre Company co-produced its world premiere off Broadway in 2022, and the whole cast from that production, plus Adams, returns: Tala Ashe as Elham, Ava Lalezarzadeh as Goli, Pooya Mohseni as Roya, Marjan Neshat as Marjan, and Hadi Tabbal as Omid.
