China Anne McClain to make Broadway debut in 'The Great Gatsby'; Ryan McCartan to return

The pair will succeed current stars Eva Noblezada and Reeve Carney, who play their final performances later this month, in the lead roles of Daisy and Gatsby.

Welcome to the Jazz Age! Disney Channel star China Anne McClain will make her Broadway and musical stage debut in The Great Gatsby this summer, performing alongside returning cast member Ryan McCartan. McCartan starts performances July 27, and McClain starts August 3 at the Broadway Theatre.

McClain is known for her roles in Disney's TV series A.N.T. Farm and Descendants film franchise, as well as the CW superhero series Black Lightning. In The Great Gatsby, she will star as Daisy Buchanan opposite McCartan (Heathers The Musical, Wicked, Disney Channel's Liv & Maddie) as Jay Gatsby, a role he played for three previous stints beginning in 2025.

Current stars Reeve Carney and Eva Noblezada will play their final performances as Gatsby and Daisy on July 26. Between July 27 and August 2, Senzel Ahmady will play Daisy.

Continuing Gatsby cast members include Corbin Bleu as Nick Carraway, John Behlmann as Tom Buchanan, Linedy Genao as Myrtle Wilson, Charlie Pollock as George Wilson, and Matthew Saldívar as Meyer Wolfsheim.

The Great Gatsby is a musical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's landmark 1925 book about the star-crossed love between a mysterious millionaire and his former flame, the married socialite Daisy. The Tony Award-winning Broadway production has run since 2024.
