Liza Colón-Zayas

Liza Colón-Zayas stars in Downstate on Broadway at the Booth Theatre from October 17, 2026.

Colón-Zayas is best known for her Emmy, Screen Actors Guild, and Imagen Award-winning performance as Tina Marrero on The Bear; she became the first Latina to win the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Additional screen roles include Jean DeWolff in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Janet in John Krasinski's comedy film IF, Rita on HBO's In Treatment, and Principal Fallow on OWN's David Makes Man.

Colón-Zayas is also a theatre veteran who has collaborated with artists like Philip Seymour Hoffman and Quiara Alegría Hudes, including as a member of LAByrinth Theatre Company since 1992. Most notably, she originated the role of the Church Lady in Stephen Adly Guirgis's Pulitzer Prize-winning Between Riverside and Crazy both off and on Broadway. She won a Lucille Lortel Award for her Off-Broadway performance.
