
Since making her Broadway debut in the original 1959 production of Gypsy, June Squibb has appeared in the musicals The Happy Time and Gorey Stories and as an understudy in the play Sacrilege. In 2018, she returned to Broadway for the first time in over 20 years in Waitress, becoming the first woman to play the role of Joe (renamed Josie). In 2025, at age 96, she starred as Marjorie in Marjorie Prime on Broadway.
Squibb is also a regular fixture of the screen, earning an Oscar nominaton for playing Kate Grant in the 2013 film Nebraska. She starred in the 2024 film Thelma and has had supporting roles in films like Alice, The Age of Innocence, Palm Springs, Godmothered, and Far from Heaven. She has also had voice roles in the animated films Soul, Inside Out 2, Toy Story 4, and Ralph Breaks the Internet.
