Jay Ellis is best known for playing Martin "Lawrence" Walker in the HBO series Insecure, winning an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series. He also appeared in the films Escape Room and Top Gun: Maverick and starred off Broadway as Duke in the romance play Duke & Roya in 2025.
