He directed the movie Good Night, and Good Luck in 2005, also co-writing the script and playing Fred W. Friendly. He made his Broadway debut as Edward R. Murrow in the Broadway adaptation of Good Night, and Good Luck, also penning the Broadway play's script with Grant Heslov, his co-writer on the original screenplay.
