Christopher Jacob Abbott was born February 10, 1986 in Greenwich, Connecticut. He has worked extensively on both stage and screen and is known for roles in Girls and many independent films.
After studying acting at HB Studio in New York, he landed roles in his first two Off-Broadway plays in 2008: Good Boys and True and Mouth to Mouth. He returned to the stage two years later for That Face.
In 2011, Abbott made both his feature film debut (in Martha Marcy May Marlene) and Broadway debut (in The House of Blue Leaves, opposite Edie Falco and Ben Stiller). But it was his role as Charlie Dattolo in Girls that gained him widespread recognition in 2012. He appeared in 13 episodes, and his success led him to leading TV roles, including John Yossarian in a miniseries based on the novel Catch-22. Abbott earned a Golden Globe nomination for his performance.
Abbott's other Off-Broadway and regional credits include Where We're Born, Fool for Love, John, and The Rose Tattoo opposite Marisa Tomei.
In 2023, Abbott returned off Broadway in a revival of John Patrick Shanley's Danny and the Deep Blue Sea opposite Aubrey Plaza.
