In Full Gallop off Broadway, Patti Lupone is Diana Vreeland — the Vogue editor-in-chief who reigned before there was Anna Wintour (and Miranda Priestly). In this play by Mark Hampton and Mary Louise Wilson, audiences will meet Vreeland at an important turning point of her life: she has just spent four months in Paris after being ousted from Vogue, but she is now returning to New York City to reclaim not only herself but her beloved fashion industry. This wild ride of a solo play takes audiences inside the psyche of one ambitious fighter's mind and reveals the nuances of a vulnerable star.

Gordon Greenberg directs LuPoine in Full Gallop. The play originally starred Mary Louise Wilson, who went on to win an Obie Award for her work and, later, a Tony Award for her role in Grey Gardens. The play also ran at Manhattan Theatre Club so, like Vreeland in the play, this one returns to an original New York home. Audiences may be more familiar with modern Vogue goings-on, but this one rewinds a few decades to return to a different age where women's role in magazines were shifting.

LuPone, as an iconic stage diva, is now taking on a role that feels tailor made to her talents. After playing Mamma Rose in Gypsy and Eva in Evita, winning Tonys for both, LuPone now steps into another powerful women's shoes.
