Simu Liu to make Broadway debut in ‘Oh, Mary!’
The Barbie and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star will join the award-winning comedy play for a limited engagement beginning in February.
Simu Liu will make his Broadway debut in Oh, Mary! for a limited run this spring, performing from February 3 to April 21 at the Lyceum Theatre.
Liu is known for his starring screen roles in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Netflix’s Kim’s Convenience, the blockbuster film Barbie, and The Copenhagen Test. In Oh, Mary!, he will replace current cast member Cheyenne Jackson in the role of Mary’s Teacher.
Current cast members John-Andrew Morrison (Mary’s Husband), Jenn Harris (Mary’s Chaperone), and Tony Macht (Mary’s Husband’s Assistant) will extend their runs through April 26. As previously announced, John Cameron Mitchell will join the cast as Mary Todd Lincoln from February 3 to April 26.
Set in the weeks before Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, Oh, Mary! imagines how Mary Todd Lincoln was during that time: repressed, alcoholic, and nursing a burning desire to be a cabaret star. Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton directs the play by fellow Tony winner Cole Escola.
