'Parent Trap' parody 'Ginger Twinsies' to premiere off Broadway
The new play, spoofing the 1998 film starring Lindsay Lohan and directed by Nancy Meyers, will play a strictly limited engagement starting this summer.
You want the 411? Ginger Twinsies, an Off-Broadway parody of The Parent Trap, will play a strictly limited 16-week engagement at the Orpheum Theatre. Performances run from July 10 to October 26, with opening night on July 24.
Written and directed by Kevin Zak, Ginger Twinsies sends up the 1998 Parent Trap film directed by Nancy Meyers and starring Lindsay Lohan, Natasha Richardson, Dennis Quaid, Elaine Hendrix, and Lisa Ann Walter. The plot follows two long-lost twins who meet at sleepaway camp and hatch a plan to reunite their divorced parents.
Leading the Ginger Twinsies cast are Russell Daniels (Gutenberg! The Musical!, Titanique) as Annie and Aneesa Folds (Freestyle Love Supreme, Warriors) as Hallie. The cast also includes Jimmy Ray Bennett as Martin, Grace Reiter as Chessy, Phillip Taratula as Meredith Blake, Matthew Wilkas as Nick, and Mitch Wood as Lizard/Others.
Additional casting for Ginger Twinsies will be announced at a later date. The show also features scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Wilberth Gonzalez, lighting design by Bradley King, and sound design by Joshua D. Reid.
