Maya Boyd doesn't stay in one place. When she's not on stage — whether in the title role of an upbeat musical like & Juliet or as the bold Molly Cunningham in her current project, the August Wilson drama Joe Turner's Come and Gone — you could find her just about anywhere across the city: at her favorite Brooklyn bar, her favorite SoHo restaurant, her favorite Chelsea coffee shop, or simply hanging out in the West Village or Central Park. The actress took us on a whirlwind tour of her NYC picks below.

Favorite NYC restaurant

I have a lot, but one I never get tired of is this restaurant in Soho called Tyger. It's a fusion; I believe it's Japanese fusion, and it's so good. They have this amazing pasta I get every time, and I could never get tired of it.

Favorite NYC bar

I love Public Records. It is located in Brooklyn, but it just has such great vibes. Great DJs come and play amazing music.

Favorite pre- or post-show spot

My pre-show haunt that I love is St. Kilda. It's right near the [theatre]. They have two locations in Midtown. They just have great quality coffee and it's a great pick-me-up for the show.

Favorite NYC coffee shop

Devoción. I make coffee at home a lot of the time, too, and they have amazing coffee beans. I love coming here and buying them to make coffee at home.

Breakfast at Liberty Bagels

Regularly named one of the city’s best bagel shops, the unassuming Liberty Bagels is the perfect spot to get a classic NYC breakfast sandwich.

10:00

Macy’s Herald Square

One of the world’s largest stores, Macy’s is a sight to behold, especially when it’s decked out for the holidays.

Favorite NYC neighborhood

I love the West Village. It's so fun. So many great spots, too, to hang out with friends. I would go there a lot visiting New York.

Favorite NYC park

Central Park. It's huge. It's amazing. You can't go wrong with Central Park.

Favorite non-theatre thing to do in NYC

My favorite non-theatre thing to do is definitely hang out with family and friends, but also I have a lot of friends who are choreographers and love to workshop new combos they're doing. I love going and being a body for their work; it's so fun to dance with my friends.
