Montego Glover to star in 'Gypsy' on Broadway for Sunday matinees
The Tony Award nominee will assume the lead role of Rose from six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald for one performance at the Majestic Theatre per week.
Here she is, world! Tony Award nominee Montego Glover will star in Gypsy on Broadway for Sunday matinee performances in July and August beginning on July 20 at the Majestic Theatre.
Glover will play the lead role of Rose in lieu of six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald, who still performs the role at all other performances unless otherwise specified. She previously assumed the role for the week of June 30 to July 6 while McDonald was on vacation. Glover is best known for her Tony-nominated turn in Memphis, and additional Broadway credits include Into the Woods, Les Misérables, and The Color Purple.
The Gypsy Broadway cast also includes Danny Burstein as Herbie, Joy Woods as Louise, Jordan Tyson as June, Lesli Margherita as Tessie Tura, Lili Thomas as Mazeppa, Mylinda Hull as Electra/Miss Cratchitt, Kevin Csolak as Tulsa, Jacob Ming-Trent as Uncle Jocko, Summer Rae Daney and Kyleigh Denae Vickers alternating as Baby Louise, and Marley Lianne Gomes and Jade Smith alternating as Baby June.
Directed by George C. Wolfe, Gypsy follows the tireless attempts of Momma Rose, the "ultimate stage mother," to turn her two daughters into stars in the difficult business of vaudeville. The production earned five Tony Award nominations in 2025, including Best Revival of a Musical.
