Two-time Tony Award winner Kara Young will join the cast of Proof on Broadway, replacing the previously announced Samira Wiley, who has departed the show due to a medical condition, in the role of Claire.

Young has previously appeared on Broadway in Clyde's, Cost of Living, Purlie Victorious, and Purpose, earning Tony nominations for all four shows and winning for the latter two.

In Proof, she joins the previously announced Ayo Edebiri and Don Cheadle in their Broadway debuts alongside Jin Ha.

Proof follows Catherine (Edebiri), the brilliant daughter of a genius math professor (Cheadle), as she navigates debate over the true authorship of a revelatory math proof found after his death. Thomas Kail directs David Auburn's play, which won a Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize following its 2000 premiere.

Performances of the 2026 Broadway revival begin March 31 at the Booth Theatre.
