'Degenerates' sets Off-Broadway cast

Playwrights Horizons presents the latest play from writer Else Went and director Emma Rosa Went, the acclaimed team behind 2025's Initiative.

Playwrights Horizons has named the cast and creative team for Degenerates, the first play in its 2026-27 season. Performances run from September 16 to October 11, with opening night on September 29.

The Degenerates cast includes Juan Arturo as Serge/Chad, Olivia Rose Barresi as Stacy, Zachary W. Desmond as Miller, Tyler Nowell Felix as Kemp, and Christopher Dylan White as Target.

The play is set among an online community of self-described "incel" men who believe the world is hopelessly rigged against them. When an unexpected relationship forms, it reveals the consequences of the men's hateful outlook.

Degenerates is the latest collaboration from Else Went and Emma Rosa Went, the writer-director duo behind the acclaimed 2025 play Initiative. Barresi and White also appeared in that play.

The creative team also includes set designer Mikiko Suzuki MacAdams, costume designer Kindall Houston Almond, lighting designer Jiyoun Chang, sound designer Angela Baughman, video and projection designer S. Katy Tucker, dramaturg Sarah Lunnie, and intimacy director Willow Funkhouser.
