Complete cast set for 'Hamlet' off Broadway at Brooklyn Academy of Music

Life of Pi Broadway star Hiran Abeysekera plays the title role in director Robert Hastie's production of the Shakespeare tragedy, in NYC straight from London.

Complete casting has been set for Hamlet off Broadway at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Harvey Theater this spring, running for a strictly limited four-week engagement from April 19 to May 17. Opening night is May 4.

Joining Olivier Award winner Hiran Abeysekera (Life of Pi) as Hamlet are Alistair Petrie (Netflix's Sex Education) as Claudius, Maureen Beattie as First Player, Joe Bolland as Guildenstern, Matthew Cottle as Polonius, Tim Dewberry as Marcellus/Captain, Ayesha Dharker as Gertrude, Ryan Ellsworth as Ghost/Player King/First Gravedigger, Tom Glenister as Laertes, Mary Higgins as Osric/Voltemand, Liz Jadav as Nurse/Priest, Kiren Kebaili-Dwyer as Fortinbras, Hari Mackinnon as Rosencrantz, Francesca Mills as Ophelia, Sophia Papadopoulos as Cornelius/English Ambassador/Second Gravedigger, Seb Slade as Francisco/Reynaldo, Noel White as Bernardo, and Tessa Wong as Horatio.

The Hamlet creative team includes director Robert Hastie (Operation Mincemeat), set and costume designer Ben Stones, lighting designer Jessica Hung Han Yun, sound designer Alexandra Faye Braithwaite, composer Richard Taylor, choreographer Ira Mandela Siobhan, and fight director Kate Waters.

This new production of Shakespeare's classic tragedy is a the first of a partnership between BAM and the National Theatre of Great Britain, in which National Theatre productions will transfer to BAM's Harvey Theater, and filmed versions of NT's productions will screen at BAM Rose Cinemas. Hamlet ran at the National Theatre in fall 2025.

Also through the partnership, audiences and visitors to BAM will be able to view a free, in-person Hamlet exhibition and a co-curated digital collection with the National Theatre.
