Beaches on Broadway will end its run at the Majestic Theatre this Sunday, May 24. At the time of closing, it will have played 66 total performances.
Adapted from Iris Rainer Dart’s 1985 novel and the 1988 film adaptation, Beaches follows an unlikely lifetime of friendship between brassy performer Cee Cee and refined lawyer Bertie. On Broadway, Jessica Vosk and Kelli Barrett play the roles originated by Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey on screen.
The musical is also led by Ben Jacoby as Michael Barron and others, Brent Thiessen as John Perry and others, Samantha Schwartz as Little Cee Cee, and Zeya Grace as Little Bertie.
Dart adapted her novel for the stage show with Thom Thomas, and developed it in collaboration with David Austin. The score is by Mike Stoller (music) and Dart (lyrics), and Lonny Price and Matt Cowart co-direct.
