Singer and social media star Anthony Gargiula will make his Broadway debut in & Juliet this fall, performing as François from September 15 to December 6 only.
After getting his start by singing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show at age 7, Gargiula later became known for his viral “Kitchen Singing Series” on social media and for TV appearances on American Idol and I Can See Your Voice.
In & Juliet, Gargiula will succeed current cast member Nathan Levy, who plays his final performance as François on September 6.
“Seeing my first Broadway show at seven years old sparked a dream that never left me. I remember thinking, ‘How do I get up there one day?’” said Gargiula in a statement. “Now, making my Broadway debut in & Juliet feels like the most unreal full-circle moment.
"It’s a show that’s all about embracing who you are, taking chances, and finding joy in the unexpected. Those are all things that have become really important to me, so getting to tell this story feels incredibly special. & Juliet gives people a chance to step away from the real world for a couple of hours and just experience something full of joy, love, and encouragement. I can’t wait to help bring this show to life 8 times a week — it is truly an honor!”
As previously announced, Corey Mach joined the cast as Shakespeare yesterday, August 4, and original Broadway cast member Ben Jackson Walker returns to the role of Romeo from August 13.
Continuing cast members include Gianna Harris as Juliet, Joey Fatone and Paulo Szot alternating as Lance throughout the summer, Chrissy Metz as Angelique (through September 13), Alison Luff as Anne, and Michael Iván Carrier as May.
& Juliet starts at the end of Shakespeare's classic tragedy — except this time, she puts down the dagger and seeks out life and love after Romeo. The musical is set to 30 pop hits from the Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, Kelly Clarkson, and more.
