Andrew Burnap, Phillipa Soo, Jordan Donica to star in 'Camelot' on Broadway
Lincoln Center Theater will mount the musical in the spring.
Meet the king and queen of Camelot! The latest revival of the classic Lerner and Loewe musical Camelot has set initial casting, with Andrew Burnap, Phillipa Soo, and Jordan Donica in lead roles.
Burnap will star in the show as King Arthur, alongside Soo as Guenevere and Donica as Lancelot du Lac. Burnap was last on Broadway in The Inheritance, for which he won the 2020 Tony Award for Best Lead Actor in a Play.
Soo is a Tony nominee for originating the role of Eliza Schuyler in Hamilton. She just appeared as Cinderella in Into the Woods on Broadway and played Inez Milholland in Suffs off Broadway earlier this year.
Donica starred in the last Lerner and Loewe revival at Lincoln Center Theater, 2018's My Fair Lady, as Freddy Eynsford-Hill. He has also played Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway.
Additional casting has yet to be announced.
Camelot is based on the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, centering on a love triangle between Arthur, Guenevere, and Lancelot and seeing them struggle between following their hearts and staying loyal to their kingdom.
This revival of Camelot features a new book by Oscar-winning writer Aaron Sorkin, but all the classic Lerner and Loewe tunes remain, like "Camelot" and "The Lusty Month of May."
Camelot performances begin at the Vivian Beaumont Theater on March 9 ahead of an April 13 opening.
