Ana Gasteyer's 'September L. Davis: The Apology Tour' to run off Broadway this fall

The comedy show, in which Gasteyer performs as her alter ego, will play at Studio Seaview for nine performances only between September 20 and October 5.

Ana Gasteyer will bring her musical comedy show September L. Davis: The Apology Tour off Broadway this fall for nine performances only at Studio Seaview between September 20 and October 5.

Gasteyer leads the show as her alter ego, September L. Davis, with additional guest stars to be announced. The actress and comedian is best known for her time as a Saturday Night Live cast member and for starring as Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway. She currently stars as Mildred Layton in Schmigadoon!, for which she earned her first Tony Award nomination earlier this year.

The Apology Tour will perform the evenings of September 20-21, September 27-28, and October 4-5, when Schmigadoon! and Garry Starr: Classic Penguins, which runs at Studio Seaview Tuesdays through Sundays, are dark. There will be 9 p.m. performances on Sundays and 6 and 9 p.m. performances on Mondays.

"It would be a night of REDEMPTION! To cop to all the hurt I’ve caused! To own it! To invite all the celebrities I have wronged back for a night of APOLOGIES, MEMORIES, MUSIC and SONGS!" September L. Davis said in a statement about The Apology Tour. "Because here is what I’ve come to understand: cancel culture and attempted murder are not the solution. Humans are MESSY and COMPLEX. They need second chances. If you’re cancelled, are you never allowed to return? And if you are allowed to return, wouldn’t the best way be MUSICAL THEATER, the greatest American art form there is?

A one-night performance of The Apology Tour in 2025 featured Phillip Taratula, Annaleigh Ashford, Cheech Manohar, J. Elaine Marcos, and Matt Wilkas as guest stars. That iteration of September L. Davis: The Apology Tour was written by Gasteyer and Steven Cragg and directed by Kevin Cahoon.
