The new play Blackout Songs will run off Broadway this winter from January 15 to February 28, with a January 27 opening at The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space.

Blackout Songs follows two people who meet in Alcoholics Anonymous, leading to a decade-long affair during which they experience relapse, recovery, and ecstasy. The NYC production will star Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) and Owen Teague (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes), both in their NYC stage debuts.

“With Blackout Songs, I set out to write a memory play about two people who can’t trust their memories,” said playwright Joe White in a statement. “Who fell in love and forgot how. Who invented things to fill the gaps. Who lost track of the truth. I wanted this play to feel like someone pouring their heart out over someone and sort of reveling in the doomed romance of it all."

Two-time Olivier Award nominee White also makes his American theatre debut with the show, which previously earned an Olivier nomination for its 2022 London premiere.

The Off-Broadway creative team includes director Rory McGregor, set designer Scott Pask, costume designer Avery Reed, lighting designer Stacey Derosier, sound designer and composer Brian Hickey, movement consultant and intimacy coordinator Sarah Parker, and props supervisor Matthew Frew.
