This World of Tomorrow on Broadway tickets

See Academy Award winner Tom Hanks back on Broadway for the first time in 14 years, co-starring with Tony winner Kelli O'Hara in a moving play about a time-traveling quest for true love. This World of Tomorrow, written by Hanks (based on his short stories) and James Glossman and directed by Tony Award winner Kenny Leon (Fences), comes to Broadway in fall 2027 after a sold-out Off-Broadway premiere in 2025.

A two-time Oscar winner known for his work in Sleepless in Seattle, Big, Apollo 13, The Polar Express, and Forrest Gump, Hanks plays Bert Allenberry, a late-21st-century scientist who longs for the past. He embarks on a time-traveling quest for true love, returning — again, and again, and again — to one special day at the 1939 New York World’s Fair in Queens, where he forms a deep connection with an ordinary woman named Carmen (O'Hara). As he hops across time and discovers many paths forward, what journey will Bert choose for himself?

Hanks, O'Hara, and Leon all return from the Off-Broadway run, reuniting to once again share a story that blends technology and desire, nostalgia and history.
