About Soon

Get Soon tickets on New York Theatre Guide to see this original musical about overcoming fear to chase your dreams. Drama Desk Award nominee Nick Blaemire — known for his stage performances in Cry-Baby, Godspell, Dogfight, and tick...tick... BOOM! — is also an accomplished writer, and Soon the musical is his latest original work. It is directed by another Broadway actor, Will Blum (School of Rock, Beetlejuice, Grease).

Soon off Broadway plays a limited run at The Loft at St. Luke's Theatre in Midtown, Manhattan. The musical follows 20-something Charlie, who is coping with an anxiety that is keeping her indoors and away from her dreams. Jonah, however, wants to see her soar, but that means taking the first step that is unimaginable to Charlie: walking out her front door.

Soon is a modern story about dreams, mental illness, and the relationships that bring us to new places. Audiences can expect an indie pop score and an intimate chamber musical with a cast of rising talent that features Oliver Richman (as Jonah), Ava Delaney (as Charlie), Mylinda Hull (as Adrienne), and Mike Millan (as Steven).

The musical is presented by Out of the Box Theatrics, a not-for-profit theatre that uplifts the voices of marginalized communities. The company is known for producing intimate shows that provide a platform for new works. That is particularly important today — many new musicals are based on existing intellectual property, and original ones are harder to find. But it is the original ones like Soon that reflect today's issues, so audiences can look forward to a story that feels fresh and relevant with universal themes of unlocking your potential and being bold enough to take the first step.

Don't miss out on this special new musical. Tickets to Soon in New York City are now available here.

It will empower us to choose one another , care is our human super power

Soon is a sweet little show that while unfortunately is still very relevant, also feels very dated. The main crux of the show deals with existential dread for the future of the planet (masking existential dread for the future of the main character) but this dread comes in the form of fear from climate change which is still very much present and a large issue in our society, but comparatively it is not the main focus that it once was in the early 2010s when this show's development began. I enjoyed the space and music and performances and it was a pleasant surprise show I had not known much/anything about before attending.
