An Ark plays off Broadway for a limited run this winter at The Shed in Midtown Manhattan, where the venue has presented a similar piece, Viola's Room, with Helena Bonham Carter, where audiences heard that actress's voice through headpieces. In An Ark, audiences will hear from four actors discussing everything from the joys of first love to the tragedy of death, all in 47 minutes flat.

An Ark is a new, genre-defying collaboration between Tony Award–winning writer Simon Stephens (Vanya, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time), critically acclaimed director Sarah Frankcom (UK Theatre Award for Our Town), and mixed reality pioneer Todd Eckert. The play explores the very meaning of life with the energy and humanity that have become cornerstones of these artists' works.

Through mixed reality glasses, actors share stories about life to make it seem as if they are right before you, offering an intimate reimagining of live theatre. With that technology, actors share stories about how humans grow, connect, and grieve over a life.
