Nutcracker Rouge is a burlesque show that Company XIV has performed to acclaim since 2013. The story of Clara and her adventures in the Land of Sweets are most closely associated with the popular Christmas ballet, but Company XIV presents a sexy, sensual adaptation of the tale for the holiday season. In The Nutcracker, a young girl receives the titular toy from her godfather, and it comes to life as a handsome prince. Together, the two fight off the Mouse King and his henchmen and later travel to the Land of Sweets, where they encounter the realm's leader, the elegant Sugar Plum Fairy, and troupes of characters that celebrate sweets from around the world: candy canes, chocolate, coffee, tea, and more.
Nutcracker Rouge first premiered at the Minetta Lane Theatre in 2013. Company XIV now performs the show in Théâtre XIV, the company's dedicated home venue. Company XIV is also known for other sensual holiday shows including Halloween, Christmas, and New Year's Eve-themed performance specials that coincide with Nutcracker Rouge.
