Following multiple acclaimed runs at London's Old Vic Theatre and a five-time Tony Award-winning Broadway run in 2019, A Christmas Carol comes back to New York for a limited run this holiday season.
From Matthew Warchus, the visionary director of Matilda, and Jack Thorne, the playwright behind Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, this adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens tale originally premiered in London during the 2017 holiday season, starring BAFTA Awards winner Rhys Ifans as the cold-hearted miser Ebenezer Scrooge. It was so warmly received that the Old Vic decided to revive it for a second limited holiday season engagement in 2018, and 2025 now marks the ninth holiday season when A Christmas Carol will appear on stage. In 2019, the Dickens classic was presented in London and on Broadway simultaneously.
The production, recommended for ages 8 and above, also boasts 12 beautiful arrangements of some of the most beloved Christmas carols of all time, courtesy of Christopher Nightingale. From “Silent Night” to “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear,” get ready to indulge yourselves in the joyous sounds of the season and feel your spirits lifted by this immortal tale of redemption.
